Philadelphia Union II announced today that they have signed defender Carlos Rojas from Venezuelan side Deportivo La Guaira on loan through 2023 with an option to purchase.
“Carlos is a talented and promising young defender who brings international experience to this club,” said Philadelphia Union II Head Coach, Marlon LeBlanc. “His attitude and playing style makes him a great fit for our team. We’re looking forward to how he progresses within our system and contributes to our success.”
Rojas, 19, appeared in 29 matches for Deportivo La Guaira since the 2019/2020 season. In his seven Liga FUTV playoff appearances, Rojas scored two goals for the club. After the side qualified for the Copa Sudamericana, Rojas made an appearance in the 2022 edition of the tournament.
Internationally, Rojas has earned nine caps (eight starts) for Venezuela’s U20 National Team squad, making appearances in the 2022 U20 South American Games and the 2023 U20 South American Championship.
