CHESTER, Pa. (July 11, 2023) – Philadelphia Union II announced today that they have signed midfielder Kyle Tucker to an MLS NEXT Pro contract through the end of 2023 with a club option for 2024. The 23-year-old midfielder will be added to Union II’s active roster immediately.
“Kyle is a promising young midfielder who has the potential to make an immediate impact on the field,” said Philadelphia Union II Head Coach, Marlon LeBlanc. “He’s a box-to-box midfielder who is good with both feet and his dedication and team-first mentality fits well into our philosophy. We’re excited to welcome him to the team and look forward to integrating him as quickly as possible.”
Tucker, 23, appeared in 60 matches (49 starts) in his five years at Drexel University, scoring five goals and registering 15 assists. During his time as a Dragon, Kyle's performances on the field earned him the recognition of being named to the All-CAA Third Team in both his junior and senior years. He also helped the Dragons reach back-to-back CAA Tournaments for the first time since 2012-2013.
Additionally, Tucker made notable contributions to USL League 2 side, West Chester United SC. During his time with the team, he appeared in 20 matches, scoring two goals and providing four assists. His efforts helped West Chester United SC qualify for the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, playing the full 90 minutes in the first-round match against Ocean City Nor'easters.
