Philadelphia Union II continued play in MLS NEXT Pro with a 3-0 loss against Rochester New York FC on Thursday night at Monroe Community College. With the loss, Union II are now in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 17 points.
Rochester New York FC controlled possession and outshot Union II eight to five through the first 45 minutes of play. Rochester forward Gibran Rayo opened scoring in the 25th minute with a shot from the center of the box to the bottom left corner of the net, assisted by Gustavo Rissi. Rayo then followed up his first goal of the match minutes later with a strike to the back of the net to give Rochester a 2-0 lead entering half time.
Gibran Rayo completed his hat-trick performance with his third goal of the match in the 60th minute. Rayo scored on a header with a cross by Jacob Akanyirige to give Rochester the 3-0 victory.
