Philadelphia Union II continued play in MLS NEXT Pro with a 2-1 loss against Toronto FC II on Monday afternoon at Subaru Park. With the loss, Union II are now in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with 17 points.
Union II goalkeeper Matt Freese recorded three saves in the opening ten minutes of play, but TFC II midfielder Stefan Karajovanovic broke through on a left footed shot from the center of the box to give Toronto a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. In the 22nd minute, the match was delayed for one hour due to inclement weather. At halftime, the score remained 1-0.
In the 70th minute, Union II defender Matt Real scored his first goal of the MLS NEXT Pro season on a right footed strike to bring the score even at 1-1. Toronto FC II midfielder Julian Altobelli then responded in the 89th minute with a right footed shot to give Toronto the 2-1 victory.
