Philadelphia Union II looks to conclude its three-game road trip on a high note as it travels to face off against Loudoun United FC on Saturday, September 12th. The match will now kick off at 7 p.m. as was previously announced and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Union II's road trip has expanded over 2,500 miles since last weekend with stops at Tampa Bay, New York Red Bulls II and finally at Loudoun United FC. The USL Championship's youngest team looks to put in the rear view mirror its last time on the pitch when it lost to its biggest rival, Red Bulls II, by a 6-0 margin. The match marked the return of Union homegrown goalkeeper Matt Freese who made three saves including a first-half penalty stop.
The showdown with Loudoun will be the second contest between the two sides having last met way back on March 7 in the 2020 USL Championship opener. The two MLS-affiliates battled back and forth but ended in a scoreless draw at Subaru Park.
Leading by just one point in the Group F standings, Loudoun United FC enters this weekend's match having dropped their last three matches. Two of the three contests saw the Red and White decided by a single goal not in their favor. Saturday will be the club's 11th match of their 2020 campaign but just their third at home where the club is 0-2. Elvis Amoh is the player to watch out for as he leads the squad with four goals in 10 appearances.
