In the first half, midfielder Jose Martinez opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a right footed shot from the outside of the box. The Union doubled their lead in the 37th minute when midfielder Daniel Gazdag converted a penalty to become the first player in MLS history to score 10 penalty kick goals in a single MLS regular season. In the second half, Cincinnati’s Aaron-Salem Boupendza cut the score in half in the 49th minute. In the 76th minute, Brandon Vazquez scored the equalizer off a right footed shot from the center of the goal.
