Ahead of the club's home match against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night, Philadelphia Union Head Coach Jim Curtin provided an update on the status of the squad.
Andre Blake
“Andre was back in training so that is a good positive….The hope is that he does play on Saturday. Obviously he is the best goalkeeper that our league has and we are stronger with him in the group. He’s a great goalkeeper and he’s been a quick healer in the past so hopefully he is on schedule. Leadership wise and in the locker room, he’s been doing things when he’s not been playing to help out and that speaks to the player that he is. All signs are pointing to a positive return for Andre to the group on the weekend.”
Kai Wagner
“Kai had a little tightness in his hamstring so he’s getting looked at right now with a MRI so hopefully its not too serious.”
Damion Lowe
“He’s still not back yet so he should be back tomorrow. Obvioulsy we’ll how he is doing but I thought he played great against Mexico. Not an easy environment to play in and he did a great job. Hopefully that was just some soreness and a tactical high IQ moment to slow down the tempo of the game.”
Players on International Duty
“Starting to get guys back like every team from international duty. Gazdag trained fully today and other guys arrive or fly in today and will be at training tomorrow so we’ll have good two days with them. We should be at full strength going into Kansas City."
