Ahead of the club's road contest at rival D.C. United on Sunday night, Philadelphia Union Head Coach Jim Curtin provided an update on the status of the squad.
Ilsinho
“Ilsinho had surgery yesterday unfortunately, just the tolerance of that was a little too much. He'll recover as quickly as possible and its looking like a two month recovery which we decided that it is best to be proactive so we can get him back for the most important parts of the year in August, September, October and playoffs. Rather than than the possibility of letting him go several weeks and not ever really heal or the pain be too much for him to tolerate and play. He is so important to us and we're going to miss him but that is one that we do need to update and say he be with us for a little bit of time but its a chance for others to step up.”
Jack de Vries
“It sounds like de Vries should be able to start fully training in the coming days which is a positive.”
