Ahead of the club's first match of a busy August that see another clash against Chicago Fire FC, Philadelphia Union Head Coach Jim Curtin provided an update on the status of the squad on Thursday afternoon.
Alvas Powell
“Alvas does have a minor hamstring injury and I’m hoping it is on the shorter end so maybe a two week thing.”
Anthony Fontana and Jack de Vries
“I’m cautiously optimistic about both of them and they both are in training with us. They are protected and we don’t want to have any contact so they are basically wearing the red quarterback penny at training. They are able to fully do everything but there are a few things they need to wrap up with the doctors. Both could be available for selection on Sunday but it’s not been finalized yet. Anthony looks like his old self while Jack is a little behind on the fitness side which is fine because he’s been out for so long.”
