Ahead of the club's return to the pitch against Atlanta United FC on Sunday afternoon, Philadelphia Union Head Coach Jim Curtin provided an update on the status of the squad.
Daniel Gazdag
“He’s working very hard on the physical side. The MRI came back and it’s positive in a good way with no real structural damage. It will become at the most a week or maybe less kind of an injury and then it becomes a pain tolerance. Just a little minor with some fluid in the knee but everything structurally in the knee is good which is a big relief.”
Anthony Fontana
“Anthony Fontana did pick up a concussion in that [Atlanta United FC] game toward the very end when he had a little bit of a collision and the yellow card and he falls in a weird way. We believe that was the impact that caused that and it was diagnosed after the game and we didn’t have an idea live. Not the way you want to find out but we did everything we’re supposed to do in terms of following the rules. Anthony will unfortunately miss the game.”
Sergio Santos
“We had to take him out at halftime not because he had a concussion but there was the possibility that he had one. He is cleared and ready to go now but we wanted to be safe in that situation.”
