Philadelphia Union midfielder Daniel Gazdag was named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Week bench for Week 31, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
Gazdag had a breakout performance on the road, accounting for both of the Union's goals on Wednesday night at Minnesota United FC. Gazdag bagged his first goal from open play in the first half, taking a pass from Jamiro Monteiro and firing a rocket into the back of the net. Gazdag struck again in the 57th minute, this time with his head. A corner kick flicked on at the front post by Bedoya looped into the air after Tyler Miller’s punch got away from him. With calm and care, the Hungarian deposited his second of the night into the net.
Philadelphia Union are back in action on Saturday night when the host Nashville SC for Kids Night presented by Independence. The Eastern Conference showdown for second place will kick off at 8 p.m. ET with coverage starting at 7:30 p.m. on both PHL17 and PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
