Sunday night after Philadelphia Union's resounding 4-1 victory over rival Red Bulls the 2023 Philadelphia Union's Unified Special Olympics PA team took to the pitch for a friendly against the Red Bulls’ Special Olympics New Jersey Unified squad.
The match was the ultimate gameday experience for the team that signed contracts on Friday afternoon at Subaru Park. After a warmup period, both teams walked out of the tunnel with smoke from the Sons of Ben before kicking off the two 20-minute halves.
Head Coach Jim Curtin as well as homegrowns Nathan Harriel and Jeremy Rafanello cheer on the sides and awarded both teams for the accomplishments in the postgame medal ceremony.
