With a memorable goal and key assist, Philadelphia Union midfielder Daniel Gazdag has once again been selected for the MLS Team of the Matchday.
The Hungarian earned his fourth Team of the Matchday accolade with a spectacular first-half performance as he helped the Boys in Blue rise to third in the Eastern Conference table. Gazdag delivered a remarkable opening goal that sent Subaru Park into a frenzy. The No. 10 capped off a third scoring chance in five seconds, taking a volley out of the air and smashing it into the back of the net with a bicycle finish.
Gazdag then set up what became the game-winning goal with a hard pass out to Julian Carranza in first-half stoppage time.
Gazdag is the second player for the Union to receive four Team of the Matchday honors, joining Carranza for the team high in 2023. Overall Philadelphia Union have had nine different players recognized in 2023: Julian Carranza (Matchday 1, 15, 17, 21), Daniel Gazdag (Matchday 1, 8, 25, 36), Jakob Glesnes (Matchday 6), Mikeal Uhre (Matchday 9), Damion Lowe (Matchday 11), Kai Wagner (Matchday 12 and Matchday 30), Jose Martinez (Matchday 20) Jack Elliott (Matchday 25) and Andre Blake.
