For the third week in a row, Philadelphia Union have placed a player on Major League Soccer’s Team of the Week with defender Jack Elliott getting the accolade for Week 6.
Elliott anchored the Union defense to its fourth straight clean sheet and extend its shutout streak to a club record 418 minutes with a 1-0 win against the Columbus Crew. Elliott led the match with 10 clearances and eight aerial duels in which the 26-year-old won five. Defensive prowess wasn't the only thing on display for the former fourth-round Superdraft selection, as he led the entire team with 27 accurate passes according to StatsPerform.
Goalkeeper Andre Blake nearly made it a double inclusion this week, with the Jamaican captain making the TOTW bench after making four saves including a free kick stop against Lucas Zelarayyan late in the opening half.
Elliott's joins teammates Julian Carranza and Nathan Harriel for making the weekly Team of the Week by the league in 2022.
