The final leg of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Quarterfinals takes place on Wednesday night in Guadalajara as the Union take on Atlas FC. Kick off is set for 10 p.m. ET with the match broadcast nationally on FS1 and TUDN.
Atlas F.C. of Liga MX has had quite the debut campaign in Champions League, making of the one of the tournament's biggest comebacks in the Round of 16. Los Rojinegros fell in their opening match to Honduran giants C.D. Olimpia via a 4-1 scoreline. With pressure building at home in Guadalajara, Atlas battled back with a 4-0 home victory to reach the Quarterfinals via a 5-4 aggregate scoreline. They'll look for more home magic on Wednesday night, needing to prevent the Union from getting an away goal. Should the Union score, Atlas would need to get three goals against a defense that has yet to concede any in the tournament thus far.
Forward Julian Quinones has led the Atlas offense and been a key playmaker for the Mexican side, bagging two goals and an assist in the opening round. Aldo Rocha was also a big factor, completing 132 passes over the two legs, while Julio Furch had a goal to give him six career SCCL goals in eight games.
Atlas earned its berth into their first SCCL with their remarkable 2021-22 season in Liga MX. In the Apertura, Los Rojinegros finished second to Club America with 29 points and followed up their run with a third place finish in the Clausura behind Pachuca and Tigres. The 2022-23 season has seen the side near the other end of the table with a 17th place finish with only three wins in 17 matches in the Apertura.
