The 2025 Major League Soccer schedule is officially out -- take a deep dive into the team's newly released schedule below.
After an agreeable April schedule at-and-around home, Philadelphia Union will buckle up for a marathon May slate featuring 7 total matches -- three at home, and four on the road.
It all starts with Philadelphia’s first of three trips to Canada in 2025 – they’ll visit C.F. Montreal on May 3rd. The side led by Laurent Courtois is one of four 2024 playoff contenders Philadelphia will face in May, and his team is one Philadelphia had a neutral 1-1-1 record against last season.
Last June, the pair drew 2-2 in Philadelphia, but at Stade Saputo later in the month, goals from Quinn Sullivan and Jesus Bueno weren't enough to keep their opponent at bay in the face of Copa America call-ups and transfers, and they left Canada with a 4-2 loss.
Months later during Leagues Cup, the pair met a third time, and Philadelphia secured a 2-0, besting Montreal by way of a clean sheet and Tai Baribo brace to advance to the tournament's quarterfinal.
2025 is a clean slate for both sides, and it begins across the border on the first weekend of May.
May 10th will be Philadelphia Union's first clash of the season with a Columbus Crew side that has been one of, if not the most impressive team in Major League Soccer in recent years. Columbus was forced out of the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs early than many anticipated, but similarly to Inter Miami, their first round exit isn't reflective of the depth the Eastern Conference giant boasts. Led by 2024 Sigi Schmid Coach of the Year winner Wilfried Nancy on the touchline and Landon Donovan MLS MVP Finalist Cucho Hernández on the pitch, Columbus Crew remains a team to beat.
LA Galaxy are one of three Western conference teams scheduled to make the trip to Subaru Park in 2025, and their journey comes on the heels of a 2024 season that culminated in their sixth MLS Cup title victory.
Their campaign was led, in part, by 25-year-old star midfielder Riqui Puig, but after suffering an unfortunate ACL tear in his team's Western Conference Final against Seattle Sounders, it's unlikely he'll be healthy in time to play at Subaru Park this spring. Even in his absence, the team still has a handful of high-powered attackers, including Designated Player Gabriel Pec, who earned the leagues 2024 MLS Newcomer of the Year award.
Philly's first rematch comes mid-May -- they'll take a trip down South to face Atlanta United for a second time in 2025. On this occasion, they'll face off against new manager Ronny Deila's side at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
When Lionel Messi's name is mentioned, madness ensues, as was the case last time the Argentinian superstar visited Subaru Park for Leagues Cup in August 2023. He and his star-studded team, now lead by new head coach Javier Mascherano, will be back in Chester at the end of May for a second match against Philly in 2025.
Philadelphia Union will take their second trip to Canada admist a busy three game week, taking on Toronto FC at BMO Field in a Wednesday night matchup.
Similarly to Philadelphia, Toronto finished below the playoff line in 2024, and they'll start the year with a new head coach. John Herdman resigned from the position at the end of November, and as of January 2nd, Toronto was one of three MLS clubs that hadn't officiailly filled their head coaching vacancies.
They've had a relatively quiet offseason but with a new manager at the helm, Toronto could be another new-look team to keep an eye out for in the year to come.
Philadelphia Union will close their May slate in the Lone Star State, taking on FC Dallas for the first time since August 2022.
They'll visit Toyota Stadium for what will likely be a competitive match against a side in rebuild mode. Their offseason has been busy with signings of all kinds, adding recent MLS Next Pro standouts, league-experienced pieces, and international veterans.
While it could take time for the new faces to find their footing in a new environment, this matchup falls three months into the MLS regular season, giving them ample time to mesh before hosting Philadelphia.
