Bethlehem Steel FC Acquires Defender Steve Kingue
Steel FC acquires 18-year-old Cameroonian-international Steve Kingue via loan
CHESTER, Pa. (January 25, 2019) – Bethlehem Steel FC announced today that the club has acquired defender Steve Kingue (pronunciation: KIN-gay) via loan. An 18-year-old defender from Yaounde, Cameroon, Kingue joins Steel FC from Nfuko Academy Sports in Cameroon. The deal is pending league and federation approval. Kingue will be added to Steel FC’s active roster following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P1 Visa.
"Steve is a solid, technically-skilled defender with a strong presence on the back line,” said Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner. “We are excited to have him join Bethlehem and look forward to furthering his professional development at Steel.”
Kingue joins Steel FC via loan from Nfuko Academy Sports in Cameroon. Kingue had previously been on loan at Kalev Tallin. While on loan in 2018 he made 18 appearances (16 starts), scored four goals and provided one assist across all competitions. Kingue scored three of his goal’s in Estonia’s Premium Liiga season, scoring against FCI Levadia (September 1), Paide (September 15) and FC Flora (September 30).
Kingue also featured for Kalev in Estonia’s domestic cup competition, Eesti Karikas. He made two appearances (one start) in the 2018 Eesti Karikas, helping Kalev Tallin advance to the Round of 16 in the competition and playing 164 minutes across both matches. Kingue also helped his team hold a clean-sheet in their Third-Round match against Santos Tartu (August 8).
