CHESTER, Pa. (October 11, 2019) – Despite rewriting the record book last time out, Bethlehem Steel FC (8-18-6, 16th place in East) looks to bounce back for the loss to Atlanta United 2 on Saturday afternoon north of the board with a clash with Ottawa Fury FC. Steel FC face off against Ottawa Fury FC (14-9-9, 8th place in East) at TD Place Stadium this Saturday, October 12, at 2:00 p.m. ET.
Selmir Miscic made history in 77th minute in the midweek loss, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Steel FC history, The strike has the midfielder’s first professional tally and made Miscic the youngest goalscorer in Steel FC history at 16 years, eight months and 17 days old in Steel FC’s last match against Atlanta United 2, a 5-2 loss for the Boys in Blue. The Steel now have another quick turnaround as they head to Canada for a weekend showdown with a charging Ottawa Fury FC team. The Fury have picked up 12 points by going 4-1-0 in their last five contests, including wins over the Tampa Bay Rowdies and Indy Eleven. They secured their spot in the 2019 USL Championship Playoffs earlier this week, but Ottawa will want to keep pushing and roll into the postseason with as much momentum as possible. If they aren’t careful Saturday night could be a difficult one for the Steel.
Ottawa handed a 3-0 loss to Steel FC at Talen Energy Stadium the last time the two sides met on May 19 earlier this year. The Fury were on the board by the 32nd minute and then added two in the second half, through dominating play and control of possession. Christiano Francois added two helpers, in addition to his goal, while Wal Fall notched one for himself. Both are expected to play for Ottawa in this match and will look to be dangerous against the Steel backline. One thing’s for sure, the Fury have been nearly unbeatable (10-2-4) when playing at TD Place Stadium in 2019.
Bethlehem Steel FC continues its road swing this weekend for the second of three road matches to finish out the 2019 USL Championship regular season. The Boys in Blue take on Ottawa Fury FC on October 12. Kickoff from TD Place Stadium is set for 2:00 p.m. ET and fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+.
