Philadelphia Union II’s incredible collection of young talent showed all the grit and determination that has become a hallmark of the Union style of play last weekend, and on Monday they look to keep a high standard against Orlando City B.
Creating offense has been a struggle for Orlando this year and only Jack Lynn has notched more than a single goal this season. Philly has not had similar difficulties, as evidenced by Union Academy product Nelson Pierre’s first-ever professional brace last Saturday. Union first team players have also shown out with Paxten Aaronson, Cole Turner, Jesus Bueno, Brandan Craig, and Jack McGlynn already opening their MLSNEXTPro accounts.
But while scoring has been a struggle, Orlando City B is a strong defensive side. Six goals allowed through five matches places them among the best in the east, so Union II will need to be precise and tireless running at a well-organized side.
With the Union taking on New York Red Bulls on Saturday, expect a heavy contingent of players to join Union II on Monday. For fans, this will be an incredible opportunity to see the talent primed to make an impact as the season progresses and Jim Curtin rotates his starting eleven more regularly.
Tune in at MLSNEXTPro.com at 7:00 p.m. ET on May 16 to stream some of the top young players in the country as they face Orlando City B for the first time in 2022.
