Philadelphia Union II looks to start a new unbeaten streak as they hit the road for a Thursday night showdown against Crown Legacy FC. Don't miss the action starting at 7:30PM with MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Union II is coming off just its second loss in MLS NEXT Pro play but both have come at the hands of FC Cincinnati 2. With two regular starters away with the United States U19 Team in Argentina, the Boys in Blue were unable to break through offensively and lost by a 2-0 margin for their first shutout of the season. Meanwhile Cincinnati found offense from a pair of substitutes as Moises Tablante connected with Kenji Mboma Dem twice to become the first road team this season to claim all three points from Union II at Subaru Park.
Last season Crown Legacy FC were top of the table with the best record in the Eastern Conference with 19 wins, 4 losses and 5 draws. Through 11 matches this season the club has matched the number of losses and currently even on goal differential. The Carolina side is coming off a wild contest at Huntsville City FC which saw the Crown battle back from a two-goal deficit to draw level just before the hour mark but two more goals came late to see them fall by a 4-2 scoreline. Despite the loss, Crown Legacy FC have won four of their last six contests and have lost just once so far on their home turf at the Sportsplex at Matthews.
Nine different players have found the back of the net for Crown Legacy FC but midfielder Aron John will be a player Union II needs to keep contained as he currently leads the team with four goals on 12 registered shots. John has added in three assists which trails teammate Cam Duke by just one in the category for the team lead. In net 21-year-old Chituru Odunze has been the starter for the majority of the year but 18-year-old Nicholas Holliday has been between the sticks the past two matches where he's made seven saves, allowed four goals to Huntsville City FC but had a clean sheet against ATL UTD 2.
