Philadelphia Union Academy continued its busy MLS NEXT schedule over the weekend with the U17s and U15s on the road at rival New York City FC.
The U15s emerged victorious against NYCFC, racking up a 2-0 win at St. John’s University. Head Coach Ryan Richter following the match said it was one of the best performances of the season against a quality opponent as the Boys in Blue picked up another road clean sheet. Luke Zielinski opened the scoring for the U15s while Antonio Horozoglou added the second and important insurance goal to claim all three points for the squad.
Meanwhile a hard fought contest went against the U17s as they fell to NYCFC by a 3-1 scoreline. Nelson Pierre continued his scoring streak to three straight MLS NEXT contests this spring but the hosts were too sharp in the offensive third.
Both sides return to MLS NEXT action on Sunday, May 2nd for road contests at PDA. The U-17s will start off the action at 12 p.m. ET while the U15s will follow at 2 p.m. ET.
