Philadelphia Union Homegrown Cavan Sullivan has been called up to the U.S. Under-17 Men's Youth National Team for the upcoming Vaclav Jezek Tournament in Mikulov, Czech Republic from Aug. 30-Sept. 9 for matches against Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia. It’s the first training camp of the U-17 MYNT cycle, which includes next year’s 2025 Concacaf U-17 Championship and cumulates with the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
Sullivan is among 20 players born in 2008 and 2009 to be called up by Head Coach Gonzalo Segares for the tournament.
Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2008 are age-eligible for next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup. Head coach Gonzalo Segares has selected 18 players born in 2008 and two born in 2009 for the tournament - Borussia Dortmund forward Mathis Albert and Philadelphia Union forward Cavan Sullivan.
The 14-year-old Homegrown is one of 11 players called up from a Major League Soccer club. He is also one of seven players called up who also represented the U.S. at the 2023 Concacaf Boys’ U-15 Championship in the Dominican Republic, helping the USA take home its first title in three appearances at the tournament. There, Sullivan won the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.
