After helping Philadelphia Union to its first-ever 3-0-0 start, Jovan Lukic and Kai Wagner have earned MLS Team of the Matchday honors from the league.
The Union duo were instramental in guiding the Union to a 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday night which saw the club remain unblemished to start the 2025 league campaign.
Playing in his third match for the Boys in Blue, Jovan Lukic was a wrecking ball in the middle of the pitch with two won tackles and his first-ever Union goal. The Serbian midfielder ripped a blast from the edge of the 18-yard-box that kissed off the post and into the back of the net to secure the three points and extend the Union's unbeaten start to the season. In addition to his goal, Lukic completed 83% of his passes and was selected at the Player of the Match.
Wagner notched his fourth assist of the 2025 season on the Union's opening goal, with the left back teeing up a cross into the box that was finished off by Tai Baribo in the 76th minute.
The German left back completed 80% of his passes and recorded two clearances and three tackles as he helped the club secure its first clean sheet of 2025.
Philadelphia Union returns to Subaru Park for a two-game homestand that begins next weekend against Nashville SC. The match will see the return of the fan favorite Dollar Dog Night with concession locations selling hot dogs for just $1 each. It'll also be U-Serve Night presented by Bimbo Bakeries USA, highlighting the multitude ofvolunteer efforts fans can sign up throughout 2025. Kick off against the Music City side is set for 2PM on Sunday, March 16th, and will be broadcast on FOX and MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
