Philadelphia Union announced today that Olivier Mbaizo has received an international call-up for Cameroon ahead of 2022 World Cup Qualifier matches. The midfielder is part of seven call-ups in October which include , , and . These call ups come in addition to Paxten Aaronson, Jack McGlynn and Quinn Sullivan receiving call ups to the U-20 USMNT training camp in Celaya, Mexico where they will compete in the Revelations Cup in preparation for the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship.
Mbaizo joins the Cameroonian National Team as they continue the third round of the FIFA World Cup African Qualifiers. The right back last played for his national side in October for their pair of matches in the second round of qualifiers.
This is Mbaizo's sixth senior team call up for Cameroon as they also prepare for two matches of World Cup Qualifiers. He has earned five senior international caps for the Indomitable Lions, his first when he made his debut as a substitute in a friendly vs. Gabon on September 6, 2016. Cameroon will play against Malawi (Nov. 13, 11:00 a.m.) and Ivory Coast (Nov. 16, 11:00 a.m.).
