Philadelphia Union announced today that Olivier Mbaizo has received an international call-up for Cameroon ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. The defender is one of two players from the Union that will participate in the tournament that kicks off on January 9th in Cameroon with midfielder Jamiro Monteiro set to play for Cape Verde.
Mbaizo joins the Cameroon National Team most recently was called up in October as he helped the nation secure their spot in the tournament. Mbaizo has earned eight national caps for the The Indomitable Lions. Cameroon will open the tournament against Burkina Faso on January 9th. Group A play continues on January 13th against Ethiopia before concluding against Monteiro and Cape Verde on January 17th.
