CHESTER, Pa. (Nov. 22, 2021) – As they continue to the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs, Philadelphia Union, in conjunction with Major League Soccer, today announced that Philadelphia Union will host Minnesota United FC in the club’s 2022 home opener. The match is set for Saturday, February 26, time TBA. The full 2022 schedule, as well as local and national broadcast schedules, will also be announced in the near future.
The Union’s home opener is also the opening date for MLS’ 2022 season. The last time the Union started their season at home was in 2019 when they hosted Toronto FC on March 2. Additionally, the Union will play CF Montreal on Saturday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. ET for Montreal’s home opener at Saputo Stadium and will face Nashville SC on Sunday, May 1 at 4:00 p.m. ET in both their home opener as well as their stadium opener.
The Union are continuing another historic season for the club as they move on to the conference semi-finals for the second time in club history after beating New York Red Bulls 1-0 in the final minute of extra time in the first round of the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs. The Union started their 2021 campaign by earning their first-ever berth in the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League where they made a run to the semi-finals as the last Major League Soccer team standing.
