Philadelphia Union Announces New Partnership with PLL Play

PLLxSportsplex

Philadelphia Union today announced a new partnership with the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) through 2026. This collaboration will designate the WSFS Bank Sportsplex as the official home of the PLL Juniors in Philadelphia, the league’s youth lacrosse arm, solidifying the Sportsplex as a premier destination for cultivating youth development. The PLL is an American professional lacrosse league composed of eight teams that marked their inaugural season in 2019. Late last year, the league assigned its teams to home cities for the first time, making the Philadelphia Waterdogs the city’s newest pro sports team. The league includes a 14-week tour-based schedule taking place in 12 major-market cities, including the inaugural Waterdogs Homecoming weekend with two home games June 15 and 16 at Villanova Stadium ahead of the PLL Cash App Championship at Subaru Park, set for September 15.

“We’re honored to partner with the prestigious PLL,” said David Pettican, Vice President and General Manager of the WSFS Bank Sportsplex. “This partnership exhibits our ambitions to become the premier lacrosse destination for youth development in the tri-state area and we look forward to working with PLL to provide the best lacrosse experiences possible.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with Philadelphia Union to continue investing in the growth of lacrosse around the Philadelphia region,” said Ashley Gersuk Murphy, SVP of Youth for the PLL. “As we introduce more kids to lacrosse and make the game increasingly accessible, we believe that a fun-focused, experience oriented approach will build lifelong players and fans of the game, and we look forward to working with Philadelphia Union to introduce more young athletes to lacrosse."

As part of the partnership, the WSFS Bank Sportsplex will host a series of lacrosse camps, clinics, and leagues designed for youth lacrosse players. These events aim to provide top-tier training and development opportunities, leveraging the expertise and resources of both the Philadelphia Union and PLL Play, the Premier Lacrosse League’s youth lacrosse arm.

Philadelphia Waterdogs Day Camp, a camp run by PLL Play featuring Philadelphia Waterdogs athletes, is scheduled from August 5th to August 9th and will feature comprehensive training sessions, drills, strategy discussions, and various aspects of lacrosse skill development. Additionally, PLL athletes and coaches will be in attendance to provide hands-on training and mentorship to the participants.

Youth lacrosse players eager to enhance their skills and learn from the best in the sport can register for the Philadelphia Waterdogs Day Camp through the following link: Philadelphia Waterdogs Day Camp Registration.
