The Philadelphia Union honored a special member of their team on Thursday evening during the annual NBC Sports Philadelphia Shining Start Awards benefiting the March of Dimes.
The event showcased numerous children including Union fan Kaiden Wagman, an eight-year-old who as a result of being born prematurely suffers from cerebral palsy, ADHD, epilepsy & autism. Despite the plethora of things that could hold him back, Kaiden doesn’t let any of that slow him down at all. Last fall, the Union and Auston Trusty hosted Kaiden and his brother Kyle for a special day at training in partnership with the event.
“It was a pretty awesome experience to have him come to the training complex and watch us train and be so excited,” Trusty said. “For him to be able to want to come here and spend time with me, that’s what it’s all about.”
While Trusty was unable to make the event hosted at Vie due to his first U.S. Men’s National Team call-up, Union Ring of Honor member Sebastien Le Toux represented the club. During the event, Le Toux and Kaiden had dinner, conversed and the night culminated when the Union legend presented his new friend a medal for his inspiring journey.
