Philadelphia Union announced today that Jose “El Brujo” Martinez has received an international call-up for Venezuela ahead of their World Cup qualifiers. The midfielder is part of eight call-ups in March which include , , in addition to Paxten Aaronson, Jack McGlynn, Quinn Sullivan, and Brandan Craig receiving call ups to the U-20 USMNT.
Martinez was called up by the Venezuelan National Team for their pair of matches in the group stage of the World Cup qualifiers. Martinez, who has a total of 14 caps for La Vinotinto, recorded his first assist for the national team in a 1-1 draw against Ecuador on June 20, 2021. He last played for Venezuela in a match against Uruguay on Feb. 1, 2022 and joins the squad once again for their matches vs. Argentina (March 25, 7:30 p.m.) and Colombia (March 29, 7:30 p.m.).
