Jakob Glesnes stepped in for Jack Elliott and didn't miss a beat on Sunday night, helping the Union to a 3-0 shutout win over New York Red Bulls. For his efforts, Glesnes earned a spot on the MLS Team of the Week. Brenden Aaronson made the Team of the Week bench after his golazo opened the scoring against the Union's I-95 rivals.
Jim Curtin was named MLS Coach of the Week and has his team in second place in the Eastern Conference. The Union head coach has his team flying high with one of the best defenses in Major League Soccer and an attack that still has another gear to hit. The development of Aaronson and Mark McKenzie, along with Andre Blake's return to the top of the MLS goalkeeping power rankings is a credit to the work Curtin and his staff did during the season hiatus following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Union return to action on Saturday, September 12 when they welcome New England Revolution to Subaru Park at 7:30 p.m. ET on PHL17.
