After helping lead the Philadelphia Union to the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference via a Decision Day win against Toronto FC, Daniel Gazdag and Jack Elliott have been named to the MLS Team of the Week.
Both players were dominant on their side of the field with Gazdag becoming the third player in club history to record multiple hat tricks in the same season. The Hungarian opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a smooth finish that sent Subaru Park into a roar. Just before the halftime break, Gazdag added an assist as he lead Mikael Uhre into open space for a two-goal lead going into the locker room. Gazdag bagged his second goal of the afternoon with a smooth finish from the penalty spot and three minutes later ran through the Canadian defense to finish the season with a club record 22 goals.
On the other end, Elliott led the Union defense to its 15th clean sheet of the regular season to establish another club record. The center back led the defense with five clearances, four tackles which held Toronto FC to just a .38 expected goals line in the 90 minute finale.
Both Gazdag and Elliott's appearance on the weekly accolade are their fourth of the 2022 MLS regular season to give the Union 25 overall in the 34 weeks.
