CHESTER, Pa. (March 15, 2019) – Bethlehem Steel FC announced today that Jamoi Topey has received an international call-up from the Jamaican National Team. Topey is set to join the Reggae Boyz senior squad for the first time in his career ahead of two international matches.
Jamaica will play one match in CONCACAF Nations League qualification against El Salvador in San Salvador (March 23) before taking on Costa Rica in San Jose (March 26) in an international friendly. ). In the Concacaf Nations League qualification phase, which is entering its final matchday, Jamaica is in fifth place out of 34 teams and would clinch a berth in both League A of the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League as well as the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup with a victory in the match at El Salvador.
Topey will join the team following a great performance in Steel FC’s USL Championship season opener at Birmingham Legion FC, in which he helped the Steel maintain a shutout. Topey featured previously for Jamaica’s Under-20 National Team during the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. He started in all five of Jamaica’s matches in the competition, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
Steel FC’s home opener will take place at Talen Energy Stadium against North Carolina FC on Saturday, March 16 (7:30 p.m. ET | ESPN+).
