CHESTER, Pa. (September 5, 2019) – Bethlehem Steel FC announced today that Chavany Willis has received an international call-up from Jamaica ahead of the nation’s Concacaf Nations League contests.
Jamaica is set for two Concacaf Nations League contests: vs. Antigua and Barbuda (September 6) and at Guyana (September 9). These two matches are Jamaica’s debut in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League B, which consists of a double round robin among four teams in one group. The team atop the group after all matches are played earns promotion to League A for the 2021-22 cycle. Willis joins Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake and forward Cory Burke, currently on loan at Jamaica’s Portmore United FC, in receiving a call-up from the island nation.
The call-up is Willis’ first for the full Jamaican National Team. He was previously called up to the island nation’s Under-23 National Team camp in July earlier this year, ahead of their2020 Olympic Qualifying matches in CONCACAF. The Kingston native started in both matches against Dominica (July 17) and Saint Kitts and Nevis (July 21).
Bethlehem Steel FC travels to Cary, North Carolina to take on North Carolina FC in the club’s next match on Saturday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. ET. (7:00 p.m. ET | WakeMed Soccer Park | Cary, N.C. | ESPN+).
