Philadelphia Union Academy's U16 squad continued their dominance on Sunday night, defeating Miami Rush Kendall SC 1-0 to earn a spot in the MLS NEXT Cup quarterfinals.
It was 15-year-old center back Andre Chirila who found the back of the net early in the first half, taking advantage of a corner kick opportunity to claim a lead. The game was controlled by the Philadelphia side with solid possession and passing, plus several promising chances that came in the second half. With the win, the 16s advance to the quarterfinals and will take on their next opponent on June 18th.
As for the U-17s, their Round of 16 match contest Orlando City SC will now take place on Monday night at 8:15pm after their originally scheduled match was postponed due to weather. Quarterfinals for the 15s kickoff at 10:30am today against LA Galaxy.
