The Union academy faced off against SYC on Saturday as they continued a strong fall season.
Although the U14s played Springfield/South County Youth Club to a 0-0 scoreline, they controlled the shape of the match by keeping the ball in the opponent's half and smothering any opportunity to counterattack. Phil Karn's side couldn't find the necessary creativity in the final third to put the match away and will work to bring more numbers into the box next weekend. A strong defensive foundation means the side continues to have a good foundation to build on, and they know creativity and timing in the final third will help them take the next step.
Meanwhile, the U17s bounced back with a powerful 13-0 win. Ed Davis collected five goals in a stunning display, while Devon Decourt added two more and the Union were relentless from the first minute to the last.
The scoring began when Daniel Kruger shook the net two minutes in, and ended with goals from Davis and Michael Tzimoulis in the 89th and 90th minutes respectively.
The win shows that the Union U17 side remains a force to be reckoned with, and they now look ahead to New England Revolution next weekend.
